While surfing the ‘net, I came across this cool pdf. download of an old cookbook called A Book of Practical Recipes for the Housewife which apparently is a compilation of recipes form 13,000 housewives.  Amazing eh?  There is no copywrite date so I’m not sure how old this is but it looks interesting.

I won a little something…

I decided to join the Food Tv (Canada) Cooking Club at the beginning of the year.  Each month we are presented with a recipe to attempt and are supposed to write our review and send in a photo of our dish.  January was Cottage Pie (which is similar to Shepherd’s Pie).  My husband and I tried to do this together which turned out to be a big mistake–too many cooks in the kitchen, as they say!  Even though we messed the dish up, it was still edible (the potato topping is awesome!) and I sent in a light hearted review.  Well, who woulda thought, but we actually won a prize despite ourselves.  LOL  I shall be receiving a copy of Mission: Cook by Robert Irvine.  Coolio!
